All We Imagine as Light is a poetic, beautifully shot narrative about two nurses living together in the bustling city of Mumbai. Prabha has lost touch with her husband after he left for Europe in search of work. Will she be able to cut off the past and make a fresh start? Young Anu is in love – she and her boyfriend are seeking a place where they can get closer to each other. A trip to the sea will be an opportunity for both women to find at least a moment of absolute freedom. Kapadia creates an extremely tender portrait of female friendship. Creating a cinematic tapestry filled with hope and love for an often cruel world, sensitive and imbued with authenticity (Kapadia started out as a documentary filmmaker), and metaphysical at the same time. It's also a brilliantly edited symphony of a big city that sometimes stifles the feelings of its residents. (description: Marcin Pieńkowski, translated by Barbara Feliga)
