OPIS:
Na wzgórzu pośród pustyni znajduje się mauzoleum nieznanego świętego. To tutaj kilka lat temu złodziej zakopał obok samotnego drzewa skradzione pieniądze. Kiedy po wyjściu z więzienia stara się je odzyskać, okazuje się to trudniejsze niż przypuszczał. Na początek musi zatrzymać się w sennym mieście, w którym z pozoru niewiele się dzieje... Alaa Eddine Aljem stworzył niezwykłą komedię wypełnioną wyrazistymi bohaterami i zabawnymi sytuacjami, często o charakterze satyrycznym, w której codzienne czynności mieszkańców i ich sposoby na zabicie nudy dostarczają widzowi wiele radości i rozrywki. Do tego dodajmy spokojne i ascetyczne krajobrazy, które wspaniale się ogląda.

Alaa Eddine Aljem – po ukończeniu “École Supérieure des Arts Visuels” w Marakeszu i “Institut Supérieur des Arts” w Brukseli zrealizował kilka filmów krótkometrażowych, m.in.: The Desert Fish, Tribute, National Education. Cud nieznanego świętego to pełnometrażowy debiut reżysera. W 2016 r. Alaa Eddine Aljem został wybrany przez magazyn “Screen International” jednym z najbardziej utalentowanych i dobrze się zapowiadających młodych gwiazd kina w krajach arabskich.

“…the audience can sit back and wander around the village alongside them, enjoying this slight but nonetheless pleasurable story that at times recalls the sense of invention and fun of fellow countryman Faouzi Bensaidi’s WWW: What a Wonderful World: - Boyd van Hoeij, “The Hoolywood Reporter”
SYNOPSIS:
On top of a desert hill stands the mausoleum of an unknown saint. It is here that a few years ago a thief buried the money that he stole, under a lone tree. When, upon leaving prison, he tries to get it back, it turns out harder than he expected. For a start, he has to stay in a sleepy town, where seemingly not much happens at all… Alaa Eddine Aljem has created an off-beat comedy full of distinctive characters and comical situations, taking an often satirical look at the everyday activities of the town’s residents and their ways to fight boredom, giving the viewers much joy and entertainment. This, combined with the calm and barren landscapes, makes for a wonderful watch.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:
Alaa Eddine Aljem – after graduating from École Supérieure des Arts Visuels in Marrakesh
and Institut Supérieur des Arts in Brussels, he made a number of short films, including The Desert Fish, Tribute and National Education. The Unknown Saint is his first full-length feature film. In 2016, Alaa Eddine Aljem was chosen by “Screen International” as one of the most talented and promising young Arab Stars of Tomorrow.
