OPIS:
The Last Tree opowiada historię chłopca nigeryjskiego pochodzenia o imieniu Femi, który spędził szczęśliwe dzieciństwo wychowywany przez matkę zastępczą w Lincolnshire. Został jednak stamtąd zabrany przez biologiczną matkę, z którą zamieszkał w Londynie, gdzie nie może się odnaleźć, nie zna nikogo i gdzie obecna jest przemoc. I chociaż z czasem wpada w kłopoty i złe towarzystwo, to cały czas walczy ze sobą, aby nie zatracić siebie na zawsze. Shola Amoo stworzył niezwykle wzruszający dramat o dorastaniu w środowisku wielokulturowym i problemach z tym związanych, o szukaniu własnej tożsamości i miejsca w świecie.

Shola Amoo – absolwent NFTS w Wielkiej Brytanii, jego debiut pełnometrażowy A Moving Image opowiadający o gentryfikacji w Brixton miał światową premierą na FF w Los Angeles i zdobył specjalne wyróżnienie na FF Blackstar w Filadelfii. Na zlecenie British Council stworzył film krótkometrażowy będący reinterpretacją Otella pt. Dear Mr. Shakespeare, który był pokazywany na AfryKamerze w 2018 r. Ostatnie drzewo to drugi film pełnometrażowy reżysera.

SYNOPSIS:
The Last Tree is the story of a boy of Nigerian heritage called Femi, who spent a happy childhood with his foster mother in Lincolnshire. He is, however, taken away from her by his biological mother, and goes on to live with her in London, where he’s unable to find a place for himself, doesn’t know anyone and where he experiences violence. And even though Femi eventually gets into trouble and bad company, he still fights not to get lost forever.
Shola Amoo has created an incredibly moving drama about growing up in a multicultural environment and the ensuing problems, about looking for one’s identity and place in the world.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:
Shola Amoo – graduate of British NFTS. His feature debut A Moving Image about the gentrification of Brixton premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival and won the Special Recognition Award at the Blackstar Film Festival in Philadelphia. He was commissioned by the British Council to direct a short film reinterpreting Othello, Dear Mr. Shakespeare, which was presented at AfryKamera in 2018. The Last Tree is his second full-length feature film.
