OPIS:
Prowincja Al Jazira w Sudanie. Podczas błogosławieństwa swego nowo narodzonego syna Sakina słyszy złą wróżbę – Muzamil umrze w wieku 20 lat. Od tej pory życie chłopca naznaczone jest tą przepowiednią. Chłopiec nie marzy, nie planuje, nie potrafi cieszyć się życiem, a jedynie czeka na spełnienie wyroku. Upływ czasu odmierzają kolejne kreski rysowane przez matkę na ścianach domu. Jedyne chwile radości przynoszą mu przyjaciółka Naima i Suleiman, który zwiedził pół świata i dzięki któremu Muzamil ogląda swój pierwszy film. Czy chłopcu uda się wyrwać z kręgu śmierci? I co stanie się w dniu jego dwudziestych urodzin?
OPIS REŻYSERA:
Amjad Abu Alala – sudański reżyser i producent, urodzony i mieszkający w Zjednoczonych Emiratach Arabskich. Studiował media na uniwersytecie w Abu Zabi i pracował jako reżyser filmowy dla wielu arabskich i zachodnich kanałów. Autor filmów krótkometrażowych (m.in: Tina, Coffee and Oranges, Birds Feathers), laureat nagrody za najlepszy scenariusz do spektaklu teatralnego Apple Pies (2013). Obecnie pracuje jako szef programowy Sudańskiego Niezależnego Festiwalu Filmowego w Chartumie. Umrzesz mając 20 lat to pierwszy film pełnometrażowy reżysera.

SYNOPSIS
Al-Jazira Province in Sudan. During a blessing for her new-born son, Sakina hears a terrible prophecy – Muzamil will die at the age of 20. From then on, the boy’s life is tainted by the prediction. The boy doesn’t dream, doesn’t make plans, he can’t enjoy life and is only waiting for the omen to be fulfilled. The passage of time is marked by the lines drawn by his mother on their house walls. The only moments of joy are brought to him by his friend Naima and by Suleiman, who has travelled the world and thanks to whom Muzamil watches his first film. Can the boy escape the circle of death? And what will happen on the day of his 20th birthday?
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:
Amjad Abu Alala – Sudanese director and producer, he was born and lives in the United Arab Emirates. He studied media at the University of Abu Dhabi and worked as a film director for many Arabic and western channels. The author of short films (including Tina, Coffee and Oranges and Birds Feathers), the winner of the Best Arabic Theatre Script Award for Apple Pies (2013). Currently, Abu Alala works as Head of Programming Committee for Sudan Independent Film Festival in Khartoum. You Will Die at Twenty is his first full-length feature film.
