She is a French girl, daughter of a diplomat, recently of age. He is a Pole, a theater artist, until recently a student. They meet by chance in the summer in Gdansk, where he looks after the student theater Tik-Tak. Marguerite (T.Tuszyńska) is a modern, practical girl who travels with her father and, it seems, does not suffer from the frequent change of places and circle of acquaintances. In Gdansk, by the way, she enjoys great success. Jacek (Z.Cybulski) is a romantic young man who dreams of perfect love, immune to mundane realities. They get close to each other for a while, despite the language barrier and divergent plans.
