Afrykamera is the first festival in Central-Eastern Europe to showcase
the achievement of African cinema. First and foremost, this is Africa as it is
seen by Africans, since the dominant media portrayals of the continent assume
European or American viewpoint, and tend to be filtered through Western
mentality. In contrast, we show Africa
the way it is experienced daily by its inhabitants. It is our goal to introduce
the viewer to the cinematic achievement and the major African filmmakers. Despite
the stereotype, we demonstrate that Africa is no desert when it comes to film;
on the contrary, its contribution to world cinema is outstanding. Join us for a
fascinating cinematic journey across Africa.
